ABOUT US

Grandville Nye founded Nye’s Standard in 1954. His son, G. Larry Nye (who still works four days a week) owned the business from 1974 thru June 30, 2010. Our current owner, Martin L. Nye, who managed the business the last twenty-two years became the official third generation owner on July 1, 2010.

Nye’s has been a fixture in downtown Baroda since 1936 when Grandville operated a Chevy dealership. World War II ended that business, but he came back to Baroda and worked at our current location before buying it in 1954. When Larry operated the business, he was well known for front end alignments. In the 1960s and 1970s he did most alignments for area body shops before they had front end machines.

Larry’s son, Martin, worked for his dad during high school starting in June of 1979. Together, they doubled the business. As the end of the gas station came about in 1998, they became Nye’s Autotechs & Tire. Since that time, the business has doubled again thanks to a huge customer base and word of mouth advertising.

Nye’s now works on over one hundred vehicles per week and has seven employees, six service bays (with one more on the way)! We are a member of the Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau of Western Michigan.
